Me + The Psalty Wild // Origin Story
TLDR: The Psalty Wild was born out of my own healing journey- I made what I needed - a supportive, compassionate, trauma informed guide, offering therapeutic energy + movement supports for womxn on a healing journey looking for safe space to shed the layers + say fu*k that to living as anything other than their whole true self for one more second.
If you've known or followed me for a while you've probably watched my work evolve over the past few years. It's been an interesting, winding journey. I've been healing and evolving as the work has evolved. It’s been wildly uncomfortable. I haven’t know how to articulate along the way because I've been in process and couldn't often see the big picture of what has been happening. Plus it often felt so squishy I had no idea how to share it without fear of oozing everywhere.
The look and energy of The Psalty Wild has gone through a major shift recently- more on that in a future post. Today I wanted to share why I offer what I offer .
Along my journey of self discovery + healing I have been led to and integrated a smorgasbord of practices and tools that have supported me to be with, move through + begin to heal some of the most challenging parts of facing, healing + integrating anxiety, trauma, and the longterm affects of a lifetime of undiagnosed ADHD.
These practices have saved me, helped me learn how to function as a human, helped me understand + care for myself in moments of deep pain and struggle. Even so, my journey with these practices hasn't always been easy.
Like so many women with trauma + ADHD I faced a lot of challenges to participating in these practices. Meditation felt like a nightmare, I often felt like an outsider in outdoor groups, and yoga made me hyper aware of the disconnection I felt to my body (along with all her flaws)- with no understanding of the underlying reasons (trauma + dissociation as a survival skill) to support my process.
Along the way I was gifted with safe spaces, wise + compassionate guides + energy healers to walk besides me on my path.
I discovered I too was a wayfinder, a lightshiner, a companion for others on a similar journey, and I created The Psalty Wild so that it might be a little easier for other womxn to find their way.
